LEBA's "Back to Basics" Fall Seminar
September 9-11th, 1999
Dodgeville, WisconsinTraining includes: Ethics, Basic Training Methods, Second Man, Scent Discrimination, Body Work & Visual tracking. There will also be one half day dedicated to classroom training.
Instructors: John Lutenberg, Doug Lowry, Kevin Kronquist, Jim Dalton, Jerry Nichols, Brian Joyner and John Salem.
The seminar will be limited to 7 students per instructor to avoid down time. Observers will be allowed, and there is no extra charge for more than one bloodhound.

ISAR Basic Ground Search Training
Sept 25th and 26th, 1999
Heartville, ILThis will be an in classroom training. There will be an optional , one-day field exercise on sat OCt 9th at Wolf Creek State Park in Shelbville, IL. The training will cover all aspects of basic ground search for missing people. SOme of the areas covered will be:
- ADMINISTRATIVE CONCERNS: How a search starts and how are they run
- EQUIPMENT: What equipment should searcher have and how it's used.
- GROUND SEARCH: How to search an area and types of searches
- MAP AND COMPASS: Basics on finding your way, and knowiing where your at
- SURVIVAL: How to keep the searchers alive
- COMMUNICATIONS: Basic radio operations, and other ways to keep in touch
- BASIC RESCUE: How to care for the victim and get them out.
This training follows guidelines set out by the ILLINOIS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ANGENCY (IEMA) and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATIOON for SEARCH and RESCUE (NASAR)
The cost of the course will be $20 which covers the training manual. Get in touch with me if you are interested in attending and i will give you further information.

Canine Search and Recovery Fall Seminar
October 17 to 22, 1999
Camp Marymount
Fairview, TNCanine teams may choose from tracking, trailing, cadaver - land and water, air scent and LE canine classes to build on existing skills or learn new ones. Instructors for these classes have a combined total of over 235 years in law enforcement and 300 years of dog handling.
Special guest speakers include Dr. Wm Bass, Forensic Anthropologist from the Body Farm, University of Tn. and Sgt. Johnny Hunter, Metro Nashville PD, who is nationally known for his expertise in finger prints and blood spatter evidence.
Also planned are a special appearance by a Country Western star, a free night to tour Nashville, Canine Good Citizenship test, and of course our infamous auction.

On a breed specific note, this group is comprised of many long time bloodhound handlers as well as other working breeds and of course the most important up and coming handlers. It is a very BH friendly group unlike some of the other groups one might encounter out there.
